GameStop reportedly stapled a consumer’s Switch 2 receipts onto the console’s packaging. The staples pierced the box, scratching the brand-new console’s screen. The consumer shared pictures via social media, claiming their friend’s Switch 2 suffered the same fate.
The Switch 2 owner, alongside many others, had waited for the midnight release outside their local GameStop. Many other consoles were presumed to have been damaged by the store. Upon discovering the damage, the user lamented, as Switch 2 restocks are only arriving in three months.
Around 10 hours after the initial post, the user provided an update via social media.
“For all those wondering this GameStop branch actually came in clutch and the branch sourced around NY and NJ to provide replacements to everyone who this happened to. Not an ideal saga but happy they made things right!” they shared.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025. The console was one of the most anticipated gaming devices in the past couple of years, largely thanks to the major success of its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 1.
