Critically acclaimed underwater survival game Subnautica is officially coming to iOS and Android on July 8, 2025. The mobile port was officially announced on Subnautica social media accounts; the game is developed by Playdigious — the studio behind the mobile versions of Dead Cells and Northgard.
The mobile release includes the complete original game, with all core modes like Survival, Freedom, and Creative. The interface has been redesigned for mobile play, with adjustable HUD elements and optimized touch controls. Subnautica will support cloud saves between iOS and Android devices as well as Game Center achievements.
Subnautica will launch at a base price of $9.99, but early adopters can get it for $8.99 through a 10% discount available to those who pre-order on the App Store or pre-register on Google Play.
Subnautica, developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, first launched in early access in 2014 and officially released on PC in January 2018, followed by console versions later that year. The game blends open-world exploration with survival mechanics, holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam and had sold over 6 million copies across all platforms, and reached over 4 million downloads on Epic Store during the two week free promo event in 2019. Its success led to the release of a sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero, in 2021, with a third entry currently in development.
