Key points
  1. Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter’s AI has been spotted creating illustrations similar to other copyrighted characters.
  2. The developers claimed that the AI in the game was trained using Kazuma Kaneko’s illustrations, which is completely different from those copyrighted works.
  3. The game came out on May 7, 2025, and currently has mixed reviews on Steam.

Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter’s AI has started creating illustrations that look very similar to Disney characters and even symbols from other copyrighted works. The game has a unique mechanic where cards are built on the spot using AI.

Dubbed as “Kaneko AI,” the system is trained using one of the developer’s artworks, Kazuma Kaneko. He is a prolific artist, often known for his work on Atlus as the monster designer for Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games

Now, its ethical training is being questioned as players have spotted it creating characters that look like Elsa from “Frozen” and even a card that has the unmistakable emblem of Superman on their body suit.

The developers only mentioned that Kaneko AI is being trained using Kaneko’s illustrations. However, his works are nowhere near similar to the ones mentioned above. This can only mean that there might be other artists’ work included in the training model, or a bug that the developers have to fix quickly.

Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter was released on May 7, 2025, for PC and Mobile. The game currently has a mixed rating on Steam, and a peak all-time concurrent player count of 672.
