Key points

  1. Paradox Interactive revealed Europa Universalis V on May 9, using an announcement trailer.
  2. While there is no gameplay footage in the trailer, some outlets released previews of the game.
  3. Europa Universalis V will be available on the PC, but the release date is still unknown.

Paradox Interactive has finally revealed that the Project Caesar it’s working on is, unsurprisingly, Europa Universalis V. The studio published an announcement trailer for the game on May 9, but it did not show any gameplay footage. Additionally, no release date was found.

However, this doesn’t mean that gameplay footage of the game is not available online. Several outlets, such as GameSpot and IGN, had a chance to preview the game. Both agreed that this might be the most hardcore game made by Paradox. IGN even wrote, “If the previous games in the franchise were your undergrad, this is a PhD game.”

Europa Universalis V: Official Announcement Trailer

According to the game’s Steam page, Europa Universalis 5 will have more than a hundred playable nations, and even allows players to be the Pope, implying that they will be able to choose the Vatican City as their nation.

The page also encourages people to subscribe to the game’s newsletters for updates. Those who do will receive eight in-game monuments, which include the Roman Coliseum, the Parthenon, and the Teotihuacan Pyramids. It’s unclear how these monuments will function in-game.

Europa Universalis V will be available on PC. While the game is already announced, the developers remained tight-lipped about the game’s release date. The Steam Page mentioned that it’s “coming soon.”
