GTA VI Might Exist Within Same Universe as Red Dead Redemption 2

- Physical bills in GTA VI have the same faces of presidents from Red Dead Redemption 2’s canon.
- Weapons are manufactured by Duke, the same manufacturer behind various guns in Red Dead Redemption 2.
- The two are both developed by Rockstar Games, thereby spawning speculation that the two might share the same universe.
GTA VI’s second official trailer teased money in the canonical universe; the physical bills have the same faces as presidents from Red Dead Redemption 2’s canon. In addition to the bills, the weapons showcased in the trailer appear to have been manufactured by Duke, the same manufacturer responsible for many guns in Red Dead Redemption 2.
The guns have a small logo of a ‘D’ with a cross through it, which shares the same design as Duke in Red Dead Redemption 2. Synth Potato posted pictures with the two side by side for comparison. As for the money, the two characters highlighted on the bills are Leviticus Cornwall and President Hardin.
These two pieces of evidence lead speculations on social media which claim that the two share a universe to a certain extent. Synth Potato, the individual who made the speculation, drew the parallels between the two Rockstar titles, while also providing a counterpoint to the speculation.
“The main argument against this shared universe has always been: California, New York, Florida all exist in RDR lore while they are named differently in GTA lore. They could just go ahead and say those were renamed later,” they explained.
The new official release date for GTA VI is May 26, 2026. The delay was revealed after months of speculation about whether the game would meet its 2025 launch window. GTA V has sold over 210 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time, second only to Minecraft’s 350 million units sold.
