Key points
  1. Titan Quest 2 hits early access this summer after delays and a crowded ARPG release slate.
  2. Combat, UI, and controls are being overhauled based on player feedback.
  3. The 2006 original sold over 1 million copies and became a cult hit with multiple expansions.

Titan Quest 2 will officially launch into early access this summer, developer Grimoire Games announced today. The mythological ARPG sequel, previously targeting a late 2024 or early 2025 release, now has a narrowed release window following delays and internal playtesting.

The studio cited a crowded release slate—including Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred and Path of Exile 2—as part of the reason for the delay, saying the game “deserves the spotlight.” A specific release date is still to come, but Grimoire confirmed early access will precede the full launch.

Ahead of the release, the team plans to implement key changes based on recent player feedback, including faster, more fluid combat, better aiming and dodging mechanics, rebalanced skills, and customizable control schemes. UI improvements and performance optimizations are also in the works.

Set in mythological Greece, Titan Quest 2 retains the original’s dual-mastery class system and features battles against creatures like Harpies, Centaurs, and Gryphons. Players will also be able to craft and upgrade gear using a system of affixes and enhancements.

The original Titan Quest was released in 2006 by Iron Lore Entertainment and published by THQ. A mythological action RPG inspired by Diablo, it received generally favorable reviews for its detailed environments and deep class system, earning a Metacritic score of 77. While it didn’t reach blockbuster status at launch, the game built a strong cult following over the years, eventually selling over one million copies. Its popularity prompted multiple expansions—including Immortal Throne, Ragnarök, and Atlantis—and several re-releases, most recently under THQ Nordic. The spiritual successor of the game, Grim Dawn, developed by Iron Lore alumnis after the studio closure, released in 2016 and sold 7 million copies.
