- Square Enix wants to port the entire trilogy to the Nintendo Switch 2, but only Intergrade has been officially confirmed.
- The Nintendo Switch 2 is powerful enough to support the titles without compromises.
Square Enix officially confirmed Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for the Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming console has enough power to run the entire Final Fantasy VII Remake series, according to Naoki Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy VII Remake series director at Square Enix.
The information was revealed in Square Enix’s Creator’s Voice vlog, where Hamaguchi discussed the Nintendo Switch 2.
“When I first saw the Nintendo Switch 2 system, I was very intrigued since it’s an improved Nintendo Switch and contains new features,” he shared.
“I felt it would have enough power to run the Final Fantasy VII Remake series I was creating. […] We’d like players to feel the same excitement and surprise they felt playing the original game when they play the remake on Switch 2. With the power of Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs.”
As of May 6, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is officially being ported and rereleased on the Nintendo Switch 2; ports of the other titles in the series have not been officially announced, but the series director undoubtedly is setting the framework to open up the possibility of porting the entire series.
The Switch 2 iteration of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series will not require visual compromises, which is how Crisis Core Reunion was functional on the original Nintendo Switch.
