- Exclusive rewards include a Stuffed Felyne Teddy and 2 Bonus Item Packs.
- Crossplay is available for the Open Beta Tests
After a first open beta that was widely memed on for its polygon-like graphics, Capcom revealed a second wave of Open Beta tests, showcasing a new huntable monster alongside exclusive rewards for participating.
The second beta introduces Gypceros, a returning wyvern from earlier games in the franchise, as the only new huntable monster. Most veteran hunters should be intimately familiar with the hammer-headed wyvern. Other story quests and monsters remain the same as in the first beta.
The second beta will feature crossplay, and will run during the following times:
- February 6, 2025 at 7 pm PT to February 9, 2025 at 6:59 pm PT
- February 13, 2025 at 7 pm PT to February 16, 2025 at 6:59 pm PT
The first beta, which drew criticism for its graphical issues and poor performance. Reports highlighted problems such as low-resolution textures, significant pop-in, and models appearing with extremely low levels of detail, leading to a subpar visual experience. Performance issues were also prevalent, with players experiencing low frame rates and stuttering, even on high-end PCs. Though Capcom acknowledged the feedback, optimization improvements will likely not be included in the second beta, as the development team is primarily focused on the full launch of the game.
To encourage participation, Capcom is rewarding players with a Stuffed Felyne Teddy and 2 Bonus Item Packs. The stuffed Felyne Teddy adds extra flair to the player character, while the Bonus Item Packs, which include Mega Potions and Armor Spheres, help reduce item grinding during the early stages of the game.
These rewards will not be available after the testing period, and are sure to become badges of honor worn by veteran hunters in the future.
